Electrical products are covered by the manufacturer's warranty and, for Public customers, the rights provided under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA).
For Trade customers, the customer agrees that the CGA does not apply to the supply of electrical products where the requirements for contracting out under section 43 of the CGA are satisfied. The parties agree that it is fair and reasonable for the CGA not to apply to these transactions.
Before You Open or Use Your Electrical Product
Please make sure you have selected the correct product for your needs before opening or using it.
For hygiene and safety reasons, electrical products that have been opened and used on hair cannot be returned for a change of mind, refund, exchange or credit.
This does not affect your rights where the product is faulty or, for Public customers, does not meet the guarantees required under the CGA.
Manufacturer's Warranty
Electrical products may be covered against manufacturing defects and defects in workmanship, subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms.
Proof of purchase is required for warranty claims.
Always use, clean and maintain electrical products in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Failure to follow the manufacturer's instructions may affect a manufacturer's warranty claim where permitted by the warranty terms.
Care & Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance helps keep electrical products operating safely and effectively.
Hair Dryers
- Clean the filter regularly to remove lint, hair and other debris. A blocked or dirty filter can restrict airflow and cause the dryer to overheat or shut down. If the dryer is running hotter than normal or the airflow becomes weak, check and clean the filter in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not use the dryer if the power cord, plug or appliance has been damaged.
Clippers & Trimmers
- Clean and maintain the blades in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions using the cleaning brush supplied with the product..
- Where required, oil the blades regularly to help prevent excessive heat and wear.
- Do not use the appliance if the blades, casing, power cord or plug have been damaged.
- Rechargeable models should be charged, used and stored in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
General Care
- Keep electrical appliances clean and dry and away from water unless the product is specifically designed for wet use.
- Do not drop or subject electrical products to unnecessary impact.
- Do not attempt repairs or modifications unless authorised by the manufacturer.
- Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning, maintenance, storage and use.
What May Not Be Covered by the Manufacturer's Warranty
The manufacturer's warranty may not cover damage or faults resulting from:
- Misuse or incorrect use
- Mishandling or accidental damage
- Dropping or impact damage
- Neglect or failure to properly maintain the product
- Failure to follow the manufacturer's operating or care instructions
- Unauthorised modifications or repairs
- Normal wear and tear or replacement of consumable components, where applicable
Warranty coverage is subject to the manufacturer's specific warranty terms.
This does not limit any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.
Making a Warranty Claim
If you believe your electrical product has developed a fault, please Contact CSS with your proof of purchase and details of the issue.
We will assess the issue and advise you of the next steps.
Depending on the circumstances, we may arrange an assessment, repair, replacement, refund or other appropriate remedy in accordance with the manufacturer's warranty, these Terms & Conditions and any rights that apply under New Zealand law.
Nothing in this policy limits or excludes any rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.
